An AEW star has finished his Best of the Super Juniors tournament run with NJPW, sharing a heartfelt message about his recent tour.
Nick Wayne’s recent AEW absence has been due to the ROH TV Champion representing AEW in the NJPW Best of the Super Juniors tournament.
With the tournament now in the books, Wayne has taken to Twitter to reflect on his NJPW run.
Hopeful for an eventual return to Japan, Wayne wrote:
I couldn’t ask for a better experience. 13 matches in 22 days, 9 singles tournament matches, 8 points. I gave everything I had into every match.
I’ve said many times that this was a dream come true for me, and now I get to look back at this memory as an achievement.
I’m grateful I had great competition in every match and to have met so many encouraging fans that supported me and NJPW. I hope we all meet again some day.
Thank you for the series, @njpwglobal Best of Super Jrs. 32
Wayne’s tournament run saw him pick up some major victories, with the AEW star defeating IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion El Desperado in his second match of B-Block action.
Nick Wayne also scored victories over Robbie Eagles, Ryusuke Taguchi and SHO to end block action with eight points. AEW’s Kevin Knight – who also competed in the B-Block – also finished the tournament with eight points.
Kosei Fujita ultimately won the tournament, defeating YOH to become the Best of the Super Juniors 32 winner.
