Top AEW Stars Recently ‘Went Out Of Their Way’ To Clear The Air AEW

Tonight’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door show is notable for multiple different reasons.

One of the main talking points heading into the show isn’t even to do with any of the matches on the card, but rather the fact that CM Punk and the Elite are set to be in the same arena for the first time since the now infamous All Out media scrum.

With Punk and FTR being featured as key parts of Collision, while the Elite are set to be key parts of Dynamite, fans have wondered if any of the parties involved are to be kept apart from each other.

In an update from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer, the situation does not include FTR, who he says recently went out of their way to clear the air.

He wrote:

Just to clear something up regarding the situation in AEW and people kept apart, as tonight is the first time the Elite and C.M. Punk will be on the same show, is that FTR is not part of this equation.

FTR actually went out of their way of late to clear the air and have no working issues with each other. Most involved have confirmed that all is good between them and the hope was that other discussions would happen soon.

Punk went on record in last week’s interview with ESPN saying that he had attempted to contact members of The Elite after All Out, but the response was letters from attorneys telling him not to.

Since then, the two sides haven’t had any kind of interaction with each other.

While some AEW names seem to have leaked that there have supposedly been more issues in the locker room since Punk’s return, others, including Eddie Kingston, have publicly said any such issues have been blown out of proportion.

Punk is set to face off against Satoshi Kojima on tonight’s Forbidden Door event, while the Elite (Hangman Page and the Young Bucks) will team with Eddie Kingston and Tomohiro Ishii to face the Blackpool Combat Club (minus Bryan Danielson who has a match against Kazuchika Okada), Konosuke Takeshita and Shota Umino.

Kenny Omega is of course in one of tonight’s headline matches in a Wrestle Kingdom 17 rematch against Will Ospreay.
