During AEW Full Gear 2024 tonight, an AEW champion turned on their partner in a turn of events after a “celebration” turned sour.
Announced for tonight’s pay-per-view was a “Champagne Celebration” featuring Mina Shirakawa and AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May.
Introduced by Mina Shirakawa as the ‘love of her life’, Mariah May made her entrance for her celebration ceremony in stunning style in a black gown.
The pair would go on to share a champagne toast and danced on the entrance ramp, but May would seemingly look to turn on Shirakawa.
As she was behind Shirakawa, May readied a champagne bottle to hit Shirakawa over the head with, but Shirakawa noticed just in time and managed to dodge.
After a tense stare-down, Shirakawa then speared May off the stage onto tables below.
When Mina got up, her mouth was covered in blood and she would go on to smear it on the face of May as she seemingly kissed her best friend and partner goodbye.
For those wondering since many people had predicted it, there was no return from Toni Storm during the segment.
Elsewhere in women’s division action during tonight’s AEW Full Gear event, Mercedes Mone retained the TBS Championship against Kris Statlander.
