The country of Canada has always been a hotbed for professional wrestling. That is why when there was talk of bringing All Elite Wrestling to Canada fans rejoiced. Then, unfortunately, the pandemic hit.
In a recent interview with Jay & Dan of TSN, AEW President Tony Khan revealed that there were plans to bring AEW north in 2020. Here is the quote, courtesy of Post Wrestling:
“We’ve had plans to come to Canada. We were actually supposed to be coming to Toronto this past Summer and the pandemic derailed those plans. We weren’t able to travel outside of America. We’ve been based in Florida for many months now and I’m really excited to eventually bring our live show to Canada. We had a plan to come to Toronto this past Summer and I can’t wait to come.”
AEW has yet to run a show outside of the United States. However, there were also reports that the company had planned to run Fyter Fest 2020 in the United Kingdom. Clearly had the global pandemic not happened, Dynamite would have made the jump to multiple new countries.
