The end of AEW Dynamite this week saw Don Callis reveal that he and new AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will be on next week’s IMPACT Wrestling show to give their first interview after Wednesday’s show.
This was seemingly the start of a working relationship between the two parties, and although we know the rosters won’t be intertwined, we are likely going to see a few IMPACT vs. AEW matches in the future.
BodySlam.net is now reporting that we likely aren’t going to see an invasion angle between the two promotions, as AEW understands that those types of angles very rarely work in professional wrestling:
We were also told that “there is universal realization that “invasion angles” rarely go well for all but one party.” So, it is more likely the focus will be on competition or rivalry without a full-on “other company invasion”.
One match we are reportedly going to see come out of this is a bout between The Young Bucks and The Good Brothers. This is likely going to be made off the back of Kenny Omega’s appearance on IMPACT next week.
