AEW is said to be hopeful that a popular star who has been injured for over a year will be able to make their return soon.
During his time in AEW, Adam Cole has had an unfortunate run of injuries, suffering a concussion back at Forbidden Door in 2022.
After making his return almost a year later, Cole would suffer a second major injury at last year’s AEW Grand Slam event, suffering an ankle injury that heavily derailed AEW’s creative plans for the rest of the year.
Just over a year later, Cole has still not made his return to the ring, but that may be set to change soon.
In an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), the word backstage in AEW is that the company is hopeful, and even expecting, that Adam Cole will be returning sooner than later, with the wheels already being put in motion to prepare for that on-screen.
Cole was present backstage at AEW All Out, where he was walking around without the help of crutches, a walking boot, or anything else, with sources noting that he was in good spirits when they saw him.
Cole had previously been on the road with AEW earlier this year with the Undisputed Kingdom, but was eventually pulled due to it seemingly slowing his progress down.
Fightful previously noted that he was slated to resume in-ring training in late August.
