Stars from AEW and IMPACT Wrestling have expressed their desire for an interpromotional match, and an IMPACT executive is on board with the idea.
It started with FTR member Dax Harwood tweeting a clip of their match from this past Wednesday’s Dynamite highlighting his and Cash Wheeler’s expert teamwork.
Harwood wrote:
“Real quick; this is what makes us a great tag team. Not fancy double teams. Not 30 second sequences. Keeping the fresh man in, using your partner, knowing where each other is at all times, feeding him & he executes. That’s all. Back to the ice!”
At Slammiversary, the North’s record IMPACT Tag Team Title reign came to an end when they were beaten by the Motor City Machine Guns, but Ethan Page is keen to work with FTR, as he replied to Harwood’s tweet with: “This is why we need to work …. ASAP”.
Harwood agreed and said they need to speak to their bosses, which is when IMPACT’s co-executive vice president Scott D’Amore replied:
“Well Dax, you know I have mad respect for you & @CashWheelerFTR
I can assure you that @IMPACTWRESTLING supports making it happen
How about a home & home series between FTR and #TheNorth? @OfficialEGO & @Walking_Weapon
Hey Le Champion, @IAmJericho how do we make this happen”
Of course, at this point, depsite all the back-and-forth banter, the two promotions working together seems unlikely, but as is often the case in wrestling, it’s not impossible.
