Top AEW Star To Be ‘Out For A While’ With Injury

A top AEW star is set to be out of action ‘for a while’, having been written off television at a recent pay-per-view.

AEW All In Texas saw Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay defeat the Matthew & Nicholas Jackson, stripping The Young Bucks of their EVP status.

Ospreay would re-appear during the main event which saw Hangman Adam Page defeat Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship.

During that match, Ospreay attempted to assist Page, only to suffer an attack at the hands of The Death Riders that would see him taken away on a stretcher.

The current issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided an update on Will Ospreay’s status, confirming that the attack was a way to write the star off AEW television, however, the Englishman’s injuries are said to be “worse than he (Ospreay) thought”.

Meltzer writes:

Ospreay has been hurting for a while, and the idea for a while was to go through All In and then rest. His injuries ended up being worse than he thought.

There is no time frame on how long he’ll be out of action as he’ll be seeing a doctor in the U.S. next week to be fully checked out then he’ll have a better idea how long he’ll be out.

Ospreay was a focal point of advertising for the first AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door to take place in London, England.

Samoa Joe was also taken away from his match on a stretcher after The Opps (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata & Powerhouse Hobbs) defeated Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta) & Gabe Kidd to retain the AEW World Trios Championship.

The Opps member will be out so that he can undertake promotion duties for the second season of the Twisted Metal TV series.

Ospreay recently announced his engagement to fellow AEW star Alex Windsor.
