More Details On AEW Changing Name Of Championship AEW

More details have been revealed about All Elite Wrestling changing the name of the All-Atlantic Championship.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, AEW has had a big change to their previously named All-Atlantic Championship for quite some time.

Per the report, Warner Brothers Discovery “asked for something big” to cross promote the new movie, Shazam: Fury of the Gods.

Tony Khan had the idea to “level up” the championship from All-Atlantic to the International title including having a new championship belt made months ago in preparation to promote the film.

Fightful was told “AEW is always excited to do the cross promotional work,” and had made an attempt to have newsworthy events occur in association.

Tony Khan made the announcement on last night’s (March 9) Dynamite about the change after Orange Cassidy had yet another successful defense of the title and was then attacked by Jeff Jarrett.

Jeff Jarrett will challenge Orange Cassidy on next week’s Dynamite for the renamed title.

Also announced for the Winnipeg show, a major trios battle for the trios championships between current champs House of Black, former champs The Elite and the Jericho Appreciation Society.

With all three native sons of Winnipeg getting time on the mic on this week’s show (Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho and of course, Don Callis) surely fans are looking forward to that showdown next week.
