AEW Star Reveals ‘Real Frustrations’ In The Company AEW

The former Jungle Boy has opened up about his heel turn which saw him finally transition to Jack Perry on AEW television.

Perry was scheduled to retire the FTW Championship on the August 23 episode of AEW Dynamite, but that segment has been moved to the upcoming pre-taped episode of Collision.

With Perry now a sunglasses sporting, leather jacket wearing bad guy on our screens, he has recently opened up about his shift in tone.

Speaking to Muscle & Fitness Magazine, Perry spoke about being workplace frustations and fan interactions, saying:

“I certainly felt that it was time for a change, and I’ve kind of been waiting on that change for a while.

“And, honestly, a lot of it kind of grew through real frustrations that I guess I was having in the workplace, but also with certain wrestling fans.

“I feel it’s kind of split down the middle. So, a lot of wrestling fans are the best fans you’ll ever find, and a lot of them are just very ungrateful and cynical, and kind of just looking for a reason to talk sh*t about people, and I felt like over time I’d been getting fed up.”

Jack Perry’s heel turn began with the betrayal of HOOK at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in June 2023.

On July 19, 2023, he would defeat HOOK to become FTW Champion at AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts.

It was recently revealed that CM Punk and Perry had words over a segment at AEW Collision where Perry wanted to use real glass and Punk advised him not to.
