AEW Star Comments On Likelihood Of Cody Rhodes Returning WWE

An AEW star has commented on the likelihood of a return for Cody Rhodes and the possibility of him teaming with Dustin Rhodes.

Cody Rhodes was a founding father of AEW and would leave the company in 2022 to make a return to WWE.

With Dustin Rhodes still in AEW and having previously spoken about bringing his in-ring wrestling career to an end in the near future, Jim Ross has spoken about the possibility of the Rhodes brothers re-uniting.

Speaking on a recent episode of Grilling JR, Jim Ross spoke about the options available, saying:

“It would be a long shot based on Dustin’s age, and [for this scenario] he’ll be moving companies. He’d have to be hired by WWE.

“As crazy as it sounds, Dustin getting hired for a one-off or a big match at a stadium show is more likely than Cody coming back to AEW.

“I might be wrong on that deal. I don’t see that happening right away because Cody is on a rocket ship.”

JR would go on to discuss Cody Rhodes’ current WWE storyline, adding:

“I’ve said on here that I believe that WWE made the right decision in keeping the title on [Roman Reigns] and let Cody chase and build and chase. I just thought that was the way to go.

“I still believe that even more strongly today because I’ve seen they’re doing stuff with Lesnar and added some new elements to that story. So I’m a big believer that the chase is the story.”

Dustin Rhodes had previously confirmed that his current AEW deal is due to end in July 2023.

On May 6 2023, Cody Rhodes will face Brock Lesnar at WWE Backlash in Puerto Rico.

Dustin Rhodes recently commented on Cody’s loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, with their sister Teil Rhodes also sharing her thoughts.
