AEW’s Jim Ross Reacts To Ricky Starks WWE NXT Debut WWE/AEW

Veteran AEW commentator Jim Ross has reacted to Ricky Starks’ debut on last night’s episode of WWE NXT (February 11).

Just one day after his departure from AEW was made official, Ricky Starks emerged from the crowd inside the WWE Performance Center and vowed to “turn NXT upside down”.

Naturally the debut not only had WWE fans buzzing both inside the PC and online, but also saw reactions from several notable stars such as CM Punk, Jade Cargill and WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker to name a few.

Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross also chimed in on Starks’ arrival in WWE and future within the company.

Ross said:

“Well, he’s a high motor guy. I don’t know if he’ll be the next Shawn Michaels at his size, but he has a unique future. He’s got a big personality. So hopefully he’ll do well and lives his dream.

“It seems like the dream for a lot of talents is to make it to WWE and call it a day. That’s not where it ends, that’s where it begins.

“I saw the episode of NXT last night, surprised to see Ricky Starks. Don’t know how he’s gonna do. He’s got a high opinion of himself, and he’s got a lot of abilities, there’s no doubt about that, so we’ll see how it works out for him.

“It’s never easy to get over, and hopefully he can get over and stay over as a top star. Remains to be seen, so we’ll see how it goes.”

One point of interest regarding Starks’ WWE debut is the company failing to mention him by name both during the NXT broadcast and on social media.

According to backstage reports after NXT, it was stated that not naming Starks was a deliberate decision, however, there’s no word on exactly why that is just yet follow this link here.
