A Hall of Famer has revealed that they wanted a recent AEW signing to join WWE, describing the star as “one of the best”.
Former TNA World Champion Josh Alexander signed with AEW in April 2025, debuting in the Owen Hart Cup.
During a recent episode of Something to Wrestle, WWE Hall of Famer JBL shared his thoughts on the recent signing.
Describing Alexander as a “freaking ring general”, JBL would also consider the skills of Speedball Mike Bailey, also signed to AEW, saying:
“I was blown away by Josh; everything he did. I saw him have some matches out there where guys that he worked with had no idea that he was just putting them in holds, putting them in moves.
“He is a freaking ring general. He is so good at what he does. I wish he’d gone WWE and just, I’m biased toward WWE. He’s going to be great. Wherever he is.
“Speedball Bailey, that kid is fantastic. Those two, I thought, to me, were just diamonds in the rough. They were that good.”
Looking at Alexander in more detail, JBL would also reveal one of the reasons he’d liked to have seen the former TNA star in WWE, noting:
“Josh Alexander, to me, is one of the best. He’s one of the best wrestlers in the world.
“I mean, as far as just being able to put a match together, he can do absolutely anything with anybody. He’s… I’m blown away by that guy.
“I wish he’d gone WWE, just because, you know, I’m a little more biased, and I would get to see him more.”
In December 2024, Alexander revealed that there had been rumblings of an appearance in WWE, but nothing transpired from it.
JBL made his TNA debut at Emergence in August 2024, appearing after Nic Nemeth defeated Josh Alexander to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
