AEW’s Kenny Omega has been out of action since December 2023 but appears to be lining up his imminent in-ring return.
It was recently reported that Omega has returned to training “with moderate intensity” ahead of a return to wrestling.
It was noted in the report, however, that he won’t be back anytime soon in a wrestling capacity due to weakness in the abdominal region.
With NJPW recently sharing a video titled “REUNION: Hiroshi Tanahashi x Kenny Omega” (which can be seen below this news story), Omega has reacted on Twitter with a message that reads:
“The first steps.”
Tanahashi and Omega first encountered each other in a New Japan ring back in January 2015 at NJPW Road To The New Beginning.
That match would see Omega as part of Bullet Club with Doc Gallows, Karl Anderson and Tama Tonga to take on Tanahashi, Hirooki Goto, Katsuyori Shibata and Ryusuke Taguchi.
Their rivalry would continue until January 2019 with many multi-man matches under their respective belts.
January 2019 would see Omega lost the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Tanahashi at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 13.
Kota Ibushi, also absent from AEW television, has recently teased that both he and Omega are working towards a return.
