Current Champion Fined After ‘Physical Altercation’ With AEW’s Kenny Omega AEW

NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi has issued a statement on Kenny Omega backstage incident at the Power Struggle event.

At NJPW Power Struggle 2024, Kenny Omega made his return to the company to address the fans and announce that he will make his in-ring return at the upcoming Wrestle Dynasty event.

Following the in-ring promo, Omega got into a backstage fight with current NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd of the Bullet Club War Dogs.

Omega and Kidd previously got into an online spat that led to their backstage altercation at the show.

On November 6 at the NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19 press conference, NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi addressed the backstage incident involving Kenny Omega and Gabe Kidd. He said:

On November 4 in Osaka, after he delivered an address to the crowd, Kenny Omega was involved in a physical altercation with Gabe Kidd.

We take this type of incident seriously, and after investigation have determined that Kidd’s actions in physically assaulting a non active wrestler were unbecoming of a professional.

Gabe has been issued with a formal warning and a fine as a result.

I would like to formally apologise to Kenny Omega and AEW for the distress caused.

Kenny Omega also addressed his physical altercation with Gabe Kidd in an interview with Tokyo Sports, which you can read at this link here.
