AEW star Kenny Omega has teased a huge intergender tag-team match with Mercedes Mone, following Mone’s in-ring return.
After months away from wrestling, the former Sasha Banks made a surprise appearance at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4 to confront IWGP Women’s Champion KAIRI.
Also at the event, Kenny Omega defeated Will Ospreay to win the IWGP US Championship.
Mone has now shared a video of her meeting Omega backstage at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on her YouTube channel.
The top star shared the video on Twitter, writing:
So nice to meet you @KennyOmegamanX until our paths meet again 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Omega insisted that their paths will cross again, and teased teaming with Mone:
Our work with NJPW isn’t quite done yet, so I’m sure they will! I hear they sometimes do mix matches now too… 🤔🤜
Mone returned to the ring at the February 18 NJPW Battle in the Valley event, challenging for KAIRI’s IWGP Women’s Title.
The CEO ultimately defeated KAIRI to become the second ever IWGP Women’s Champion.
In addition to the IWGP US Title Kenny Omega also holds the AEW Trios Championship, which he won alongside the Young Bucks on the January 11 edition of Dynamite.
