With AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door returning on June 25, we may now know what the crossover event holds for Kenny Omega.
The current IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion is featured on the match graphic for an upcoming series of matches that pits four former IWGP US Champions against each other.
On the graphic (which can be seen below), we can see that Lance Archer will face Juice Robinson at Collision in Philadelphia on April 16.
A month later, on May 21, Tanahashi will face Will Ospreay at NJPW Resurgence.
The winner of both matches will face each other at NJPW Dominion in Osaka on June 4.
Leaving that match, the winner will face Kenny Omega, although the graphic doesn’t specify when that bought will take place.
The graphic does, however, feature Kenny Omega in front of a very familiar motif that we’ve previously seen on Forbidden Door marketing.
Will Ospreay lost the IWGP United States Championship to Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 17 following weeks of bitter rivalry that led to a 6.25 star match rating from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer.
He is currently sidelined with an injury to his shoulder and working with a physio to recover.
Omega’s NJPW tag team partner, Kota Ibushi, has recently spoken about how he feels he’d be a better fit in AEW.
