AEW’s Kenny Omega Returns To The Ring, Debuts New Entrance Music AEW

Here’s what happened during the in-ring return of AEW EVP Kenny Omega at the January 5 Wrestle Dynasty event.

Omega’s in-ring return was heavily advertised for the Tokyo Dome event, with this event marking his first in-ring appearance since his hospitalization due to diverticulitis in December 2023.

With Kenny Omega facing NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd in a non-title match, the popular star admitted to fans in the months leading up to the match that he wasn’t sure what he’d physically be able to do in the ring.

Omega ultimately did return to the ring, wrestling the longest match of the night by over ten minutes.

The AEW EVP debuted new entrance music for his walk-out as promised, created by Final Fantasy 14 & 16 composer Masayoshi Soken, with vocals from Jason Miller and a special voice by Nobuo Uematsu.

The bout turned out to be a brutal encounter, with both competitors covered in blood by the final bell.

Kenny Omega was ultimately victorious, pinning Gabe Kidd after 32 minutes of action. The next-longest match at the event, the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship main event, was just 20 minutes long.
