Recent AEW Signing Shares Honest Thoughts On His WWE Tryout WWE/AEW

A recent AEW signing has confirmed that they had a WWE tryout, sharing their honest thoughts on the opportunity.

The signing of Kevin Knight was confirmed by Tony Khan shortly after his loss to Jay White on the March 29 episode of AEW Collision.

It had previously been reported that Knight had interest from WWE, with it also being stated that he had been invited for a tryout as opposed to being offered a contract.

Speaking to Adrian Hernandez, Knight confirmed he had undertaken a WWE tryout and opened up about the process.

Saying that he didn’t feel disrespected that a WWE contract wasn’t offered to him without a tryout, Knight stated:

“WWE is a machine, and sometimes it may be a bubble, you know what I mean? So they may not know exactly what’s out there.

“So I didn’t take it as disrespect. If anything, I took it as a challenge just to show what I’m about. And if they didn’t know me before, well, they definitely do now…or they did when I walked through those doors.

“I’m going to make a statement anywhere I go. And that was a great experience as well. “

Speaking about the WWE tryout experience in more detail, Knight had plenty of positives to take away, saying:

“I’m glad I got to do that. I got to meet a lot of people in that company, and it was great just being able to work with people so closely that you see on TV every week, that you see on their PLEs and everything.

“So for me personally, it was a great learning experience. I didn’t take any slight to it. I understand how the business works. It was, if anything, a networking opportunity.

“Again, exhausting all of my options. So I feel like I only grew from that, just seeing how they work, seeing what they’re looking for, and seeing their environment that’s there.”

Kevin Knight was entered into the Owen Hart Men’s Tournament, losing to Will Ospreay on the April 4 edition of AEW Dynasty.

It was later revealed that the original plan had been for Ospreay to face Jay White, with an injury to the Switchblade seeing that scrapped.
