A new championship match for AEW’s Konosuke Takeshita has been confirmed for June 15, 2025, at the Osaka-jo Hall in Japan.
Along with being a member of the Don Callis Family in AEW, Takeshita is also the NEVER Openweight Champion in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
Having defeated Shingo Takagi for the NEVER Openweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 19 in January 2025, Takeshita is set to step back into the ring to face a man he defeated the following month.
As reported by F4W Online, NJPW Dominion on June 15 will see Takeshita defend his title against Oleg Boltin.
In February, Takeshita defeated Boltin to retain the championship at NJPW The New Beginning in Osaka.
Boltin has a singles victory over Takeshita, secured during their NJPW G1 Climax 34 Block B match in August 2024.
While he may never have held the NEVER Openweight Championship, Boltin is a former NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champion.
Takeshita’s championship isn’t the only title on the line, with three other title defenses also announced for the show.
Yota Tsuji defends the IWGP Global Championship against Gabe Kidd of the War Dogs.
The IWGP World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line as Hirooki Goto defends against Shingo Takagi.
Callum Newman & Great-O-Khan of the United Empire defend the IWGP Tag Team Championship against Tomohiro Ishii and Taichi.
The AEW star is currently under a one-year contract with NJPW, according to a previous report.
As noted in the report, Takeshita could be a “main wrestler” in NJPW should that be a path he seeks to pursue.
