Absent AEW Star Clarifies Status

Absent AEW Star Clarifies Status AEW

Kota Ibushi was last seen in AEW back in November 2023 and return plans have now been revealed for the Japanese wrestling star.

Ibushi’s last AEW match was on the November 15 2023 episode of Dynamite where he teamed with Paul Wight and The Golden Jets (Chris Jericho & Kenny) Omega to take on Brian Cage & The Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita & Powerhouse Hobbs).

Highlights from the Like A Dragon Gaiden Street Fight can be seen below this news story.

On January 2, 2024, Ibushi faced Naomichi Marufuji at NOAH The New Year 2024, suffering a broken ankle that required surgery.

He would return at GLEAT Ver 12 in Tokyo, Japan on July 1 and has recently revealed that he will be returning to DDT Pro for the first time in about eight years.

In his announcement, he would confirm that he had received permission from AEW to make his return to DDT Pro.

With Ibushi’s Twitter bio being updated to read “DDT Pro-Wrestling (regular participation)”, a fan asked if this meant he was done with AEW.

In response, Ibushi confirmed that he will continue to be in AEW, tweeting:

“No, my home is AEW. We’ll see a full comeback with Kenny.”

In May 2024, it was reported that Kenny Omega underwent surgery to aid his recovery from diverticulitis.

At the time of writing, there isn’t a return date set for Omega, although NJPW’s Gabe Kidd has been firing shots at the AEW star recently.
