A former NJPW star has taken a swipe at a member of AEW, referring to the as nothing more than a “disrespectful imitation”.
Following the events of AEW Double or Nothing, Konosuke Takeshita showed his true colors by joining Blackpool Combat Club after attacking Kenny Omega.
After the Las Vegas show went off the air, Omega addressed what had happened and said:
“I may not be the most popular guy backstage but there’s a bigger world than AEW
“And, I’ve still got at least one or two really good friends that can even up the odds.”

With many seeing this as a suggestion that Kota Ibushi could be making his AEW debut sometime soon, Ibushi himself has shared his thoughts on Takeshita.
Speaking to Dark Puroresu Flowsion, Ibushi revealed:
“I never thought he was that great. He is a made imitation of me. Also, he never respected me.”
Ibushi and Takeshita have crossed paths before in Japan’s DDT Pro Wrestling with the pair facing each other in January 2013 and in a number of tag team matches in 2014 & 2015 that saw Omega and Ibushi team up.
It was recently reported that Ibushi sees an AEW signing as a “top priority”, with the top star also having an NJPW offer on the table.
Ibushi’s relationship with NJPW has also recently been reported as being in a much better position that it was before he left the company and became a free agent.
At AEW Double or Nothing, the Anarchy in the Arena match saw The Elite lose to Blackpool Combat Club.
