Kyle Fletcher has shared his thoughts on his nickname in AEW and whether it still fits the two-time TNT Champion.
With his membership of The Don Callis Family, Kyle Fletcher debuted his ‘The Protostar’ persona in December 2023, winning the ROH World Television Championship.
Now in his second reign as TNT Champion, Kyle Fletcher was recently asked about ‘The Protostar’ name by the host of Wrestle Radio Australia.
Asked whether the name, which fits someone as they’re ‘being put together’ was still a good fit for Fletcher of if the meaning has changed, the AEW star stated:
“It is a little bit, but I think, at the same time, it’s kind of taken on a life of its own. I think originally when the nickname was presented to me, it was very much “it feels like you are going to be a star one day, you will be the future of this company, this business, whatever.”
“Now, I think that is less true. I think I am, maybe, if I am not all the way there, I am very, very freakin’ close.
“So, now to me, it feels like I have given ‘The Protostar’ its own definition, its own meaning.
“I think, to me, I kind of look at it now as I am the prototype of what a star should be. That’s kind of how I envision it and how I envisage myself, and I think that’s what fits me a lot better nowadays.”
