AEW Trios Champion Claudio Castagnoli has explained the Death Riders’ recent lack of championship defences.
Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta and PAC have defended the AEW Trios Championship six times since winning the gold at AEW All In London in August 2024, six months ago.
While this ultimately averages out at one defence per month, the trio actually didn’t put their gold on the line for three months, from November 7, 2024 to February 11, 2025.
Castagnoli addressed this in an AEW digital exclusive clip on Instagram.
Noting that the pool of challengers is too shallow, Castagnoli said:
“You wanna know why these titles haven’t been defended in over two, three months, huh?
“That’s because the pool is so shallow when it gets to the level that we are at. It’s absolutely pathetic!”
The Death Riders have defended the gold twice in February, most recently defeating Angelo Parker, Daniel Garcia & Matt Menard on the February 22 Collision episode.
Other championships which the Death Riders have possession of include Jon Moxley’s AEW World Title, and Marina Shafir’s DEFY Women’s Title.
