‘Concern’ Over AEW Stars’ Potential WWE Move

‘Concern’ Over AEW Stars’ Potential WWE Move WWE/AEW

There is ‘concern’ over two AEW stars potentially joining WWE when their contracts expire later this year.

It was recently reported that Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix, collectively known as The Lucha Brothers, were expected to leave AEW and sign with WWE.

It’s been reported that Penta’s contract is expected to expire first, with Fenix’s due to expire separately around September.

Dave Meltzer has now raised a concern over Fenix’s ability to start in WWE, should they sign a deal, in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, writing:

There is concern now because AEW has the right to extend Fenix’s deal for another year due to time off due to injuries

Recently, Fenix was out of action from October 2023 after he needed to deal with an ‘old injury‘ that he would describe as ‘the worst’.

New Era Wrestling recently revealed that Fenix would not be available for their September 27 2024 show ‘due to personal reasons’.

This spurred the suggestion that Fenix could be heading to WWE, with it also being noted that the pair were seeking ‘a package deal‘ and didn’t want to start in NXT.
