AEW’s Mercedes Mone has fired back at comparisons to Hulk Hogan as she passes 400 days as the TBS Champion.
With Mercedes Mone currently holding gold for the likes of AEW, CMLL and RevPro, the nickname “Mercedes Hogan” has been circulating recently, with these fans suggesting that Mone has some level of backstage sway.
In a recent Instagram Live, Mercedes Mone reacted to fans calling her “Mercedes Hogan” with a suggestion of her own.
The clip, as can be seen below this news story, sees Mone put forward a different name, saying:
“Don’t call me Mercedes Hogan, call me Mercedes Omega”
This new suggestion could be a nod to fellow AEW star Kenny Omega, who previously had a belt collector gimmick when holding the AEW World, TNA World and AAA Mega titles simultaneously in 2021.
Mercedes Mone defeated Willow Nightingale to become the TBS Champion at AEW Double or Nothing in May 2024.
She had signed with AEW in February of that year, having enjoyed a successful run in NJPW after leaving WWE in 2022.
Recently, Becky Lynch found herself given the nickname “Becky Hogan” by fans, with the WWE star commenting on her own success in response.
