The highly decorated Mercedes Mone has topped the PWI 250 for the first time in her career, with another AEW star taking second place.
The annual list of the 250 top female wrestlers from around the world is compiled by Pro Wrestling Illustrated, with this year’s list announced on November 11.
Mone tops the women’s list for the first time in her wrestling career, with fellow AEW star Toni Storm taking the #2 spot.
Athena completes AEW’s entries in the Top 10, with WWE stars making up the bulk of the rest of the upper echelon, as follows:
1. Mercedes Mone (AEW)
2. Toni Storm (AEW)
3. Saya Kamitani (STARDOM)
4. Tiffany Stratton (WWE)
5. Stephanie Vaquer (WWE)
6. IYO SKY (WWE)
7. Athena (AEW/ROH)
8. Sareee (Independent)
9. Naomi (WWE)
10. Rhea Ripley (WWE)
The evaluation period for this year’s PWI 250 ran from October 1, 2024 until September 30 of this year.
As with the PWI 500, which saw Cody Rhodes top the list for the second year in a row recently, the women’s list was judged on the following criteria:
IN-RING ACHIEVEMENT: Win-loss records, championships, and tournaments won.
INFLUENCE: Visibility and prestige within a promotion and/or the industry.
TECHNICAL ABILITY: Variety of moves, quality of matches, and in-ring storytelling.
COMPETITION: Success against the most varied and highest-quality opponents.
ACTIVITY: Minimum 10 singles (non-tag) matches total; or, barring this, six such matches in separate months.
Mone has had quite the run recently, picking up her twelfth championship at AEW WrestleDream, albeit just outside the evaluation window.
A match was recently set for what could be Mone’s thirteenth championship win at House of Glory Superclash on November 15.
