Reason AEW Star Is Teaming With Mercedes Mone

The reason that an AEW star is teaming with Mercedes Mone in an upcoming tournament has now been revealed.

On last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, the bracket for the Women’s World Tag Team Tournament was revealed.

With Mercedes Mone already holding twelve championships, “The CEO” was announced as a participant for the tournament, teaming with ROH Women’s World Champion Athena in the tournament.

While the pair already have a victory over Alex Windsor & Toni Storm from the August 20 episode of AEW Dynamite, over in ROH, Athena has been regularly tagging with Billie Starkz, with the champion now revealing why she isn’t teaming with her “minion” in the upcoming tournament.

Following the bracket reveal, Billie Starkz posted a message to Twitter, but without tagging her partner, tweeting:

“What are you doing?!?! #AEWDynamite”

Athena would spot the message from Starkz and reveal the reason they are not teaming together, stating:

“You… uhhh … didn’t pick up the phone ….”

Mone was left humiliated on last night’s AEW Dynamite, finding her face driven into a cake for her twelve championship celebration.

Athena would share her love of a cake-covered Mone after the whole celebration ended in chaos in a tweet that reads:

“You are SOOO beautiful tag partner!!! @MercedesVarnado

“What should we name our team minions????!!!!”

With tensions between Mone and Kris Statlander rising, the pair will face off for the AEW Women’s World Championship at Full Gear on November 22.
