An AEW star has revealed that they’ve been waiting for an upcoming match for ‘a very long time’ after last night’s Double or Nothing victory.
Mercedes Mone defeated Jamie Hayter at AEW Double or Nothing on May 25 to win the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament.
The win sees her head to AEW All In Texas on July 12 for a shot at the Women’s World Championship currently held by Toni Storm.
During the AEW Double or Nothing media scrum, Mone shared her thoughts on a first-time ever singles match against Storm, noting her own impressive track record, saying:
“She might be Timeless but I’m legendary. I’m iconic and my legacy can never be undone.
“I’ve been looking forward to facing Toni Storm for a very long time. I’ve been watching her for years, all the way since STARDOM.
“She is Timeless for a reason. She holds the AEW Women’s World Championship for a reason. But I’m four belts Mone, I am The CEO of not only AEW, RevPro, New Japan, soon I’ll be going to Mexico. But I am a global champion for a reason, and I want all the gold, so Toni, be prepared for the greatest match of your life.”

Mone has spent a year as AEW TBS Champion and is the current RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Champion.
Speaking about the upcoming match in comments also at the AEW Double or Nothing post-show media scrum, Toni Storm shared her excitement in a slightly different way, stating:
“I’ve been orgasming ever since. Looking very much forward to meeting Miss Mone.”

During their shared time in WWE, Storm and the then-Sasha Banks teamed together to defeat Charlotte Flair & Shotzi on the December 17, 2021, episode of SmackDown.
They would share the ring with Storm as a member of Team NXT and Banks as a member of Team SmackDown at Survivor Series in 2019 before both being in Team SmackDown at the same event in 2021.
The upcoming match marks the first time in their respective careers that they have faced each other in a singles match.
Elsewhere at Double or Nothing, the next challenger for Jon Moxley was decided in the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament.
