AEW star Will Ospreay has created merchandise referencing a claim that he previously went off script in a match.
A clip from Ospreay’s match against Kurtis ‘Mad Kurt’ Chapman at RevPro Live In London 63 in 2022 has recently been doing the rounds on social media, with a viral post claiming the finish – Ospreay repeatedly elbowing the back of Mad Kurt’s neck until the bout was called off – was a wrestler going “off script” and showing “brutality.”
Following a community note pointing out that Ospreay commonly used these elbows in matches, this post sparked a trend, with a number of fans sharing funny wrestling moments with the same caption.
Ospreay has now released a shirt via ShopAEW featuring the words “Off Script & Shows Brutality”, which you can view below.
Will Ospreay took to Twitter to declare that any profits he makes will be sent to Kurt’s family, to show them that he will never be forgotten.
Ospreay wrote:
“Off Script & Shows Brutality.
“This came from a viral video that everyone hoped on the trend for.
“What people may have missed is the person in the video with me is the late “Mad Kurt”
“This clip came from a match we had at RevPro from 2022 and had the most fun ever rocking the 229 making the crowd bite on every move we did.
“Sadly a year and a half after this Kurt is no longer with us anymore, but he’d love the fact we trolled a lot of the internet on several occasions.
“So any money I make with this shirt I’m gonna find a way of sending the royalty cheque to Kurtis family.
“Would like them to remember the kid brought us so much love & joy, and shall never be forgotten.
“Thank you all, miss you Kurt”
Kurtis ‘Mad Kurt’ Chapman passed away in December 2023.
