Police Department Responds To Rumors It Received Hundreds Of Phone Calls After MJF AEW Dynamite Promo AEW

Following a promo where MJF claimed to be a ‘speed demon’ on AEW Dynamite who ‘kept getting speed tickets’ a police department has responded.

In the promo on the February 8 episode of AEW Dynamite, MJF would boldly state:

“A man does not know what he is truly made of until he’s met with adversity

“I was a speed demon, I loved whipping around my blue Camaro, and I just kept getting speed tickets.

“I was one point away from having my license revoked, and it was time for junior prom.”

He then went on to tell a story of how he was supposedly driving with his crush in the car when they had an accident, and he moved her into the driver seat before the police arrived so she would get the blame.

In the aftermath of this, a rumor went around that Nassau Police Department had received “over 300 calls” about MJF’s story.

ESPN’s Marc Raimondi has, however, done further investigation and Tweeted:

“Not to break kayfabe, but I contacted the Nassau County (N.Y.) PD and reports that hundreds of people have called about the MJF promo from AEW don’t seem to be true.

“The public information officer didn’t know what I was talking about and said such calls would go to his office.”

He would follow this up by saying:

“I’ve heard from several people who have said there is truth to the original story.

“Either way, it was a phenomenal, sinister, disturbing promo by MJF and the question of whether something is real or not is what wrestling is all about. So, huge win for him and AEW.”

Brian Alvarez of Wrestling Observer would also address the situation, saying:

“I don’t know if it was actually over 300 [calls], but absolutely, 100%, they got a bunch of phone calls.

“That’s not a joke. A bunch of fans legitimately called the Nassau Police Department to report MJF.”

Alvarez would also state that 80% of the MJF was “true” with the AEW star getting into a “serious car accident” with friends whilst in junior high school.
