After having a backstage brawl with the AEW Champion on tonight’s AEW Dynamite (February 1), one rising AEW star has now been granted a major opportunity.
On tonight’s AEW Dynamite, Konosuke Takeshita emerged to prevent MJF from interfering in Bryan Danielson’s match with Timothy Thatcher.
As they brawled off and ended up featuring in a backstage fight, it was broken up with an announcement from Renee Paquette courtesy of Tony Khan.
Confirmed by Tony Khan on Twitter shortly thereafter, next week there will be an AEW World Championship eliminator match between MJF and Konosuke Takeshita.
Also on tonight’s show, Jon Moxley made a sweet entrance before engaging in a decidedly violent and vicious battle with Hangman Adam Page.
In backstage segments, one AEW star confirmed that they’re officially done with tag teams while during another a challenge to a current champ was interrupted by footage of a backstage assault in progress!
Elsewhere on tonight’s AEW Dynamite (February 1) Darby Allin is set to put his TNT Championship on the line against Samoa Joe in a No Disqualification match.
