An update has emerged on Bobby Lashley potentially having a boxing or MMA fight while under contract with AEW.
It was heavily speculated that Lashley would be returning to legitimate combat sports following his WWE departure, with the Almighty previously rumored to have been talking with Misfits Boxing.
Speaking on The Lame Guys podcast, Lashley noted that he’s able to take other opportunities while with AEW, including another fight.
Laskley noted:
“I think part of it was because Tony (Khan) did tell me that I had (the) opportunity to do other things also.
“So if I do want to really tackle that fight and do another fight — whether it’s boxing, bareknuckles, MMA — I think he’ll give me the opportunity to.
“Then all my other projects also that I’ve been working on. So I think that was part of it, just having the ability to do other things.”
Lashley has a 15-2 professional MMA record, most recently competing at Bellator 162 in 2016, against Josh Appelt.
He scored a victory in this bout, via submission in the second round.
