AEW
A new weekly show has been announced for the MyAEW streaming platform, with episodes coming every Thursday.
Launched in March of this year, MyAEW “gives fans immersive access to live and on-demand events outside the United States and Canada, a dedicated FAST channel with ad supported viewing available to fans globally and more exciting features to come in the near future.”
The streaming platform doesn’t just include AEW content, either, with independent wrestling promotions also being added to the offering over past weeks.
That tradition continues with an announcement made on July 10, confirming that MLP Mayhem will be coming to MyAEW on a weekly basis.
The announcement was made on the official AEW Twitter account, confirming that the new show will air every Thursday:
“MyAEW 🤝 @MapleLeafPW
“We are excited to announce that MLP’s new weekly program, MLP Mayhem, begins streaming for free in the United States and more than 100 countries around the world exclusively on http://MyAEW.com this Thursday!”
Earlier this year, the AEW-owned Ring of Honor crossed over with Maple Leaf Pro for Global Wars Canada.
The One-Stop Shop
One of the challenges of the digital media age is the mutlitude of streaming platforms offering competing catalogs of content. Regardless of which platform a viewer prefers, there’s a chance that a show, movie or event that interests them will appear on another service elsewhere, meaning another subscription, even if it’s just for a month or two.
The same is true of the wrestling space. WWE may be on Netflix, AEW is on HBO Max, and then there are the other much smaller companies that may pique interest on their respective platforms.
Sure, Netflix and HBO Max have much more than just wrestling on offer, but the underlying issue is still the same: if you’re a wrestling fan that wants to watch as much as possible, multiple subscriptions are an ongoing consideration. For some, it’s no doubt not a concern and juggling multiple subscriptions could be the norm, but for others it’s likely the sort of thing that requires some thought.
If MyAEW can offer a single platform bringing together not just Dynamite, Collision and the associated pay-per-views but also a plethora of independent content, it may become something of a one-stop shop for wrestling fans, despite not including any WWE content.
