AEW Name Revives Old Character For Country Music Awards 2024 Appearance AEW

An AEW name revived an old character for a surprise appearance at the Country Music Awards in Nashville, TN.

In something few would have expected, AEW’s Paul Wight made a surprise appearance on stage during Bailey Zimmerman’s performance at the 2024 Country Music Awards last night.

Even more unexpected than that, is Wight donned his famous Captain Insano attire whilst doing so.

As can be seen below, Wight appeared on stage during Zimmerman’s set, and at one point had the 24-year-old singer on his shoulders as he performed ‘New To Country’.

Wight’s Captain Insano character appeared in the 1998 Adam Sandler comedy The Waterboy, but would later be trademarked by AEW upon Wight signing with the company.

Although Captain Insano has not yet received him once much-rumoured AEW debut match, the character has appeared in segments involving both The Acclaimed and MJF and Adam Cole.

Wight hasn’t had a match since January, where he, Chris Jericho and ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey teamed together against The Don Callis Family during the 2024 Jericho Cruise.
