A new report has revealed several AEW names has “pushed” for popular stars The Outrunners to win the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
On the October 30 Fright Night edition of Dynamite, Private Party defeated The Young Bucks to win the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
This was a surprising result that has seemingly led to a spark for the AEW tag team division.
Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that there were a number of people backstage in AEW who had pushed for The Outrunners to be surprise tag team title winners before Private Party.
However, the success of the Private Party story ended up working well and a different direction was decided on.
On the November 9 episode of AEW Collision, The Outrunners defeated Top Flight to advance in the Full Gear Four-Way Contenders Series.
Private Party will defend the AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Outrunners, FTR and the winner of La Faccion Ingobernables vs. The Acclaimed on Saturday, November 23 at Full Gear.
