AEW’s Nigel McGuinness has addressed his wrestling future, commenting on the possibility of him having a full-time in-ring schedule.

The AEW commentator has wrestled sporadically since returning to the ring in August 2024, after over 13 years away.

Speaking with The Magic of Wrestling, Nigel McGuinness ruled out a potential full-time in-ring return, believing that he best benefits AEW as a part-time in-ring performer.

When asked if he’d be interested in wrestling for a full year with AEW, McGuinness said:

“No, good lord no, my full years of wrestling are long, long, long gone. You could have asked me probably 10 years ago and I would’ve said the ship has truly sailed when it comes to me even wrestling again.

“I guess, truthfully, without AEW and specifically Tony Khan I would’ve never would have got this opportunity again.”

Noting that he feels he can contribute more with his one-off in-ring appearances, he continued:

“I don’t think there’s any benefit to me wrestling a full-time schedule. The sort of part-time schedule that I’m currently on, if an opportunity presents itself and it makes sense from a storyline perspective, then I’ll do it.

“I love doing it, but not full-time. There’s too many guys on the roster anyway, younger guys who deserve more of those spots than me.

“But if I can add a little bit of flavor, a little bit of spice to what else is going on with my experience, and the fact they see me on TV every week as a commentator, I think that’s the best way they can use me.”
