Nigel McGuiness has set out to clear up some confusion over recent Oasis comments ahead of AEW Grand Slam.

On September 25, McGuinness will have his first singles match since December 2011 with his in-ring return taking place at AEW All In London on August 25 of this year.

That match will see McGuinness face off against Bryan Danielson, assuming the American Dragon is cleared to compete.

The September 11 episode of AEW Dynamite saw McGuinness make quite the claim for the upcoming match, saying:

“I can guarantee you at Grand Slam, Oasis will play me to the ring, but will Bryan Danielson join me to the Final Countdown or have we seen the final match of the American Coward. The ball is in your court, Bryan”

With Oasis re-united for a tour in 2025, McGuinness has now clarified his comments about the band playing him out to the ring in a Twitter post, saying:

“With nine days to go until Grand Slam, it’s the Fragile Countdown.

“That’s right, there’s still no word from Cryin’ Bryan Danielson.

“I would like to address something else: for some reason, when I guaranteed that Oasis would play me to the ring at Arthur Ashe Stadium, people thought I was speaking literally.

“I was, of course, speaking only figuratively.

“Be that as it may, some people have asked, now that they are back together, whether I would be getting tickets to their show.

“I said Maybeeeeee. Bryan, the ball’s in your court.”

McGuiness made his in-ring return during the AEW World Championship #1 Contendership Casino Gauntlet to the Oasis track F**kin’ In The Bushes.

The track, from the band’s fourth studio album Standing on the Shoulder of Giants would be familiar to fans who followed McGuinness during his independent wrestling career.
