AEW’s Nigel McGuinness Makes Surprise In-Ring Return AEW

AEW’s Nigel McGuinness made a surprise return to the ring during Friday’s (December 20) ROH Final Battle event.

McGuinness shocked many fans by answering ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty’s open challenge.

The popular star took to the mic to note that he wanted ‘old school style’ pure title rules.

The match was competitive, with both competitors exhausting their allotted rope breaks.

Moriarty was ultimately victorious, forcing McGuinness to tap out after just over 17 minutes of action.

Lee Moriarty raised McGuinness arm following the bout as a sign of respect, following a hardfought match in the Hammerstein Ballroom.

You can view clips from this match below.

This was McGuinness’ first match since losing to Bryan Danielson at the September 25 AEW Dynamite Grand Slam event.

McGuinness notably returned to the ring for the first time since 2011 at the August 25 All In London pay-per-view, competing in the Casino Gauntlet bout.

The AEW commentator previously noted that while he was open to wrestling again, he would’ve been content if he didn’t, after getting closure at Grand Slam.
