Nigel McGuinness AEW Wrestler Contract Update

Having made an in-ring return in 2024, Nigel McGuinness has provided an update on his contract status as a wrestler.

Nigel McGuinness made his in-ring AEW debut at All In London last year, competing in the AEW World Championship Number One Contender Casino Gauntlet.

Since then, McGuinness has competed a further five times, to date, with his last match being at the August AEW Forbidden Door, losing to Zack Sabre Jr for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

Continuing to serve on AEW commentary, McGuinness has recently revealed details of how his contract works across both fields.

Speaking to The Magic of Wrestling, McGuinness revealed that he has a single AEW contract, saying:

“I think it’s all under the same thing. My manager and agent handle all that side of things, I just sign along the dotted line.

“I know we sort of re-upped when it became clear that I was going to be getting in the ring again, just like an amendment to it, but ostensibly it’s the same contract.”

Prior to his in-ring AEW debut, McGuinness last wrestled in 2011, going on to stints in TNA Wrestling and ROH before heading to WWE as a commentator.

The AEW commentator has recently revealed that he is expecting a child with his partner, Kaori Takee.
