A documentary is set to be released featuring a former AEW International Champion, charting his recent international success.
Konosuke Takeshita may no longer hold AEW gold, but his victory in the G1 Tournament set a first for NJPW.
With Takeshita being signed to contracts in AEW, DDT and NJPW, his G1 Climax 35 victory on August 17 saw him defeat EVIL to win the tournament.
NJPW has now confirmed that a documentary is being produced that will chart Takeshita’s G1 victory, life in America and more.
Via Twitter, NJPW shared footage from the documentary entitled ‘The Alpha of G1’, which sees Konosuke in his home environment as well as in the wrestling world.
Fans can also expect to get an insight into Takeshita’s belief that he can “achieve something big” in professional wrestling.
The trailer for the documentary concludes with Takeshita saying he wants to make wrestling “the number one form of entertainment”, comparing it to egg and rice.
Takeshita debuted in AEW at The House Always Wins, the 2021 house show and has aligned himself with The Don Callis Family since May 2023.
A former AEW International Champion, he has also held multiple championships in DDT as a singles and tag team wrestler.
Along with his G1 Climax victory, he is a former NEVER Openweight Champion in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
As recently reported, Takeshita will face Zack Sabre Jr for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at the October 13 King of Pro Wrestling event.
