AEW Champion Wins Title In Another Promotion

A notable AEW star has won a championship in another promotion, competing in a double title match at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19.

Both NJPW NEVER Openweight Champion Shingo Takagi and AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita were preparing for big weekends, with the duo facing off in a double title match on Saturday (January 4) ahead of defending both titles at Sunday’s (January 5) Wrestle Dynasty event.

Takagi and Takeshita ultimately met in the ring for their double title match during the fifth match of the Wrestle Kingdom 19 main card.

Takeshita was ultimately victorious, with the AEW star pinning Takagi after 12 minutes of action to walk out with both the AEW and NJPW gold.

With this result, Takeshita ended Takagi’s 97 day reign with the NEVER Openweight Championship.

The AEW International and NJPW NEVER Openweight title holder will next defend both championships against Tomohiro Ishii at Wrestle Dynasty.
