AEW Star Joining WWE Update

AEW Star Joining WWE Update AEW

A backstage update has emerged on Mariah May’s expected AEW departure, with the former champion expected to be WWE-bound.

It was recently reported that there’s an expectation within AEW that Mariah May will head to WWE after her current contract expires.

Some fans were surprised by the news that May might not be sticking around, following her brutal Hollywood Ending match against Toni Storm at the March 9 Revolution pay-per-view.

Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, ahead of AEW Revolution, Mariah May “made it clear” that she wasn’t planning on re-signing with AEW.

Indicating that this is why the Hollywood Ending match took place so soon after their Grand Slam Australia clash, Meltzer wrote:

“I noted many times that I was surprised at doing that match at that time because it was such a hot feud and didn’t need a final blow-off after just three matches.

“Apparently May made it clear at that time that she was not signing a new deal and so they booked it at that time for that reason.”

May ultimately lost this match to Toni Storm, who retained the AEW Women’s World Championship.

A recent update indicated that May’s AEW deal still has “significant time” left on it, with one source believing her contract will be up in November, while another said it could even be longer than that.
