Former AEW Champion Opens Up About Not Feeling ‘Valued’ By The Company AEW

Former AEW World Tag Team Champion Frankie Kazarian has opened up about feeling like his contributions to the promotion weren’t “valued”.

Kazarian and Scorpio Sky were the first ever tag team champions in AEW in 2019, but after SCU split up in 2021, things weren’t as great.

Christopher Daniels essentially shifted to a backstage role only wrestling occasionally, Scorpio Sky did push on to become a two-time TNT Champion – but his rivalry over the title with Sammy Guevara wasn’t received well – while Kazarian also entered the singles division, but didn’t really achieve anything of note.

Kaz joined Eric Bischoff on a recent AdFreeShows Q&A show to discuss his arrival in IMPACT and departure from AEW.

He said:

“I wanted to give that time to somebody that would value it.

“I felt at the time in AEW, my time, my contributions, and my talent was not being valued and that’s okay because I had the opportunity to take my time and give it to somebody else and that’s exactly what I did.

“I’m not a guy that’s wired to sit on the bench, you know? I’m a guy that should be in the starting lineup.

“It’s not being egotistical to say that because it’s true and I proved that.”

Kazarian made a surprise appearance at IMPACT Hard To Kill last year and announced that he’d signed a contract with the promotion, thus departing AEW.

He’d previously had a stint in IMPACT while under contract with AEW and even won the X-Division Championship in that time.

Of course he’d also spent some time in TNA earlier on in his career as well.

Kazarian was actually on Chris Jericho’s latest cruise earlier this month where he won a match against Peter Avalon.
