It’s fair to say the past year of wrestling hasn’t been the most enjoyable in terms of being a fan. Not being able to go to shows, and watching shows without fans in attendance has definitely had an effect on the enjoyment of watching wrestling.
Thankfully, the world is slowly opening up again after a year ravaged by the coronavirus pandemic, and according to Jim Ross, AEW is planning to start touring for live crowds relatively soon.
For the last few months, AEW’s home has been Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, but Ross says the plan is to “aggressively” start touring again in July.
Speaking on his Grillin’ JR Podcast, he said:
“[AEW is] making some changes also. We’re adding more content here sooner than later with another show. We’re getting our schedule together. Looks like we’re going back on the road pretty aggressively, beginning in July. getting back in front of a live audience is a blessing. I can’t wait. I will help everybody’s work. You can’t help but feed off of the adrenaline of the people and the audience surrounding you. Should be cool.”
WWE recently held WrestleMania 37 over two nights, with both shows attracting live crowds of around 20,000 people, and it feels likely that WWE will be wanting to get back in front of a live audience as soon as possible.
We’ll have to see whether WWE sees this and starts planning for a July return to live shows too.
