AJ Styles, along with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, signed contract extensions with WWE back in 2019, with many people thinking that they, mostly Gallows and Anderson, would end up in All Elite Wrestling.
Following AJ’s re-signing, Jake Hager noted that he believes the Good Brothers were intended to be in the Inner Circle, before they ultimately ended up also re-signing with WWE.
However, the original plan AEW had involved all three of the former Bullet Club members, as Dave Meltzer noted in the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
He said:
“When AEW started, the idea was for the final angle on the first TV show to be Gallows & Anderson & Styles to come out with the Young Bucks & Omega and turn on them to start the first main event faction feud. But the impression we had at the time is Styles wasn’t that interested as he was making big money here (WWE) and at the time nobody knew if AEW would make it, plus there’s the idea Styles is one of those guys who will get a job here after wrestling.”
Styles recently re-signed another new contract with WWE, with him reportedly now making $3 million dollars, making him among the company’s highest earners.
