AEW could be consolidating two of its championships, with a recent report stating that there are already firm creative plans.

At AEW Revolution on March 9, Kenny Omega defeated Konosuke Takeshita to become AEW International Champion.

The pay-per-view would also see Kazuchika Okada defeat Brody King to retain the AEW Continental Championship.

It’s these two titles that could be consolidated according to a report from Fightful Select.

Fightful’s sources have claimed that the consolidation of both titles has been something that has been pitched already.

The report goes on to note that the pitch dates “back a number of months” with those in the company considering the creative plans as firm.

At the time of writing, it isn’t known in what capacity the two titles would exist or who would be initially holding them.

It was also noted that the FTW Championship was retired in September 2024 to help further consolidate the chamionships.

At AEW Dynamite Grand Slam in September 2024, HOOK retained the FTW Championship against Roderick Strong.

HOOK would return the championship to Taz, who created the title in ECW, officially retiring the belt.
