AEW Plans For Lucha Brothers Ahead Of Potential WWE Move Revealed WWE/AEW

AEW plans for The Lucha Brothers have been revealed with the pair expected to be heading to WWE when their respective contracts expire.

Previously, it was reported that Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix had discussions with WWE and were seeking a “package deal” to bring them both to the main roster.

In September 2024, it was noted that the pair hadn’t signed with WWE yet, with it being noted that the pair remain under AEW contract.

With Fenix having suffered injuries during his AEW tenure, it had also been suggested that injury time may be added to his contract.

Dave Meltzer has now provided an update on the Lucha Brothers and WWE on Wrestling Observer Radio, saying:

“Penta’s deal was not extended, they didn’t have the right to do that. So he’s gonna be a free agent.

“As far as Fenix, my impression is if guys are going to go to WWE Tony’s not gonna use them. They’re just going to be frozen for a while.”

The Lucha Brothers were last in action on the July 17 episode of AEW Rampage beating Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen).

In AEW, they have held the World Tag Team Championships and the World Trios Championships (with Pac).

Rey Fenix has also seen singles gold having been AEW International Champion.

Matt Hardy described the possibility of the Lucha Brothers in WWE as “huge” noting that “they’re a couple of founding talents” in tag team wrestling.

Recently, Jey Uso teased a possible reunion with his brother and dropped the Lucha Brothers’ names in an interview with Metro.
