AEW Potential New Show Update Following WBD Deal Announcement

AEW Potential New Show Update Following WBD Deal Announcement AEW

Following the WBD deal announcement, a new report has revealed an update on the potential new show for AEW.

On October 2 ahead of the AEW Dynamite Five-Year Anniversary, All Elite Wrestling and Warner Bros Discovery announced the completion of their new media rights deal, which you can read at this link here.

The announcement revealed that Dynamite and Collision will air on TBS and TNT respectively, but AEW programming will stream live on Max simultaneously for US subscribers, and will be available to stream on-demand starting in January 2025.

Not included in the content for the WBD deal was the rumoured AEW Shockwave show that they recently trademarked as a new program for the company.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained why the potential AEW Shockwave wasn’t announced part of the WBD deal. He said:

“Shockwave was always going to be shopped separate. That was the nature of the whole thing, it was never going to be part of this deal.”

“They may not get a deal for Shockwave, it’s not like this thing is a lock. It was never part of these negotiations.”

The Shockwave has long been rumoured to be the show that is currently being shopped by AEW for Fox, which you can read here.

It remains to be seen if and when AEW Shockwave will be announced as coming to television at the time of this writing.

The value of the new AEW and WBD multi-platform, multi-year deal has been revealed, which you can read at this link here.
