One of the greatest championships in all of pro wrestling is the DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship. If you are unaware, it is a suped-up version of the WWE 24/7 Championship. However, it is actually entertaining. Now, AEW producer Dean Malenko has become the new champion.
Joey Janela shared a video on Twitter showing himself submitting to Malenko backstage at AEW. Janela was the reigning champion at the time and referee Rick Knox made the decision. Malenko then fled with the title and is currently recognized as the official champion.

Malenko also submitted Sammy Guevara to become the REW Pakistan 24/7 Champion.
Since its inception in 2000, the DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship has changed hands nearly 1500 times. Malenko’s reign is the 1492nd reign in the title’s history. Previously the title has been held by such legends as Aja Kong, Kota Ibushi, The Sandman, Colt Cabana, and Jack The Jobber.
Malenko has not wrestled regularly since 2001 during the Invasion angle. He is obviously not going to wrestle with the title any time soon and will likely drop it in another backstage skit in the near future. Still, it is very funny to see Malenko hold two titles for the first time in two decades.
